Corporate Finance Advisors is a small, highly specialized consultancy
that provides insurance agencies with insights into financial analysis,
valuation, and mergers and acquisitions. To reach its target market, CFA
relies on direct sales as well as a Web
site and in-depth reports, for
which I provide comprehensive writing services. Creating the reports involves
digesting and synthesizing a mass of industry-specific and often very
technical information and transforming it into informative yet readable
articles appropriate to a "C"-level audience. For example, the
principals original draft of the valuation article began, "Much
time, debate and effort has and continues to be spent on debating the
real valuation multiples for insurance brokers and other insurance intermediaries."
The rewrite, by contrast, begins with a multiple-choice test, which engages
the reader and has a little fun with the dual meaning of "multiple."
Response to this article was immediate and intense: it generated a lot
of industry debate and resulted in three sales for CFA. Web and print design: Laurie Sulzburgh Reports:The Real Deal? and 2002: A New Seller's Market? |

"The article resulted in seven requests for proposals
and three paying jobs, and it continues to be passed from one potential
client to another. Weve even received calls from people to whom
we didnt even mail it. Id call it a home run even a
grand slam!" Robert Chapman, principal, Corporate Finance Advisors |
